X-Wing Ships: The M3-A

Greetings Programs,

I am working on what might be a slightly bigger than normal post about other things, also X-Wing related, but until that is done I thought I would through in another quick ship post. Sticking with the Scum faction again.

M3-A Interceptor

Today we’re going to look at the M3-A Scyk Interceptor, if the Kihraxz Fighter is the X-Wing of the Scum faction then the M3-A is absolutely the A-Wing. In the lore of the Star Wars universe the M3-A was the lightest ship produced by one of the Mandalorian ship yards (although used most often by the Hutt criminal organisations) and was famously feature limited. It featured a small, cramped cockpit, life support, an engine, a tiny shield generator, hyperdrive and a single weapon mount. The ship was in fact so small that it couldn’t even fit an astrogration computer and relied on allied ships to calculate the jump for them.

On the up side though the weapons mount on the M3-A was one of the most universal ever made and could mount almost anything as a weapons system.

X-Wing Ships: The Kihraxz Fighter

Greetings Programs,

It has been some time since my last post, I am afraid that I have been busy.  But busy in a good way, lots of gaming (of the Table Top RPG kind) happening at our place means less time to put these little musing together.  But fear not, I have not forgotten you all.

In fact today we are going to take a look at a Scum faction ship that doesn’t get loads of play but remains in an interesting place and is one that I regularly enjoy fielding as part of Scum squads.

That ship is the Kihraxz Fighter, technically a ‘Light’ fighter produced during the reign of the Galactic Empire by the Black Sun Cartel, the Kihraxz was often heavily modified by its individual pilots meaning there really isn’t any such thing as a ‘stock’ Kihraxz.

X-Wing Ships: TIE Advanced

Greetings Programs.

Welcome to another edition of my blog, today we will be taking a look at another of the Imperial Ships, this time a ship made famous by the dreaded Darth Vader.  The TIE Advanced.
The TIE Advanced is a technologically superior version of the standard TIE Fighter, while not packing quite the same firepower as the TIE Interceptor the TIE Advanced has a better targetting computer and supplements the high agility that is the signature of the TIE Fighters with an onboard shield generator.

X-Wing Ships: The Ghost

Greetings programs.

It’s been a while, I had a week off for my birthday and then a week catching up with all the crap at work that happened in my absence.  Also, Mass Effect: Andromeda is a thing and has been sucking a lot of my time. 🙂

Anyway here we go again, lets talk about a starship.  For this episode I’m going to swing back to the Rebel Alliance (who I don’t play that often) and talk about one of their large base ships.

Now, it’s not going to be YT-1300, I know everyone loves the Falcon and it has a bunch of cool stuff, however as there are two versions of the Falcon in play (Original and Force Awakens) that is a much bigger post.  So I am instead going to talk about another heroic ship that plays a huge role in the formation of the Rebel Alliance.

The VCX-100 & Attack Shuttle, and specifically the Ghost & Phantom titles.  Both of which should sound familiar to you, if you have watched any of Star Wars: Rebels, after all this is the protagonists ship in that show.

X-Wing: FAQ v4.3.0

Greetings Programs.

Today I’m going to post up my thoughts on the Fantasy Flight Games X-Wing FAQ v4.3.0, came out this week and goes fully tournament legal on 17/03/2017.  This post might be pretty dull if you don’t actually play X-Wing, you have been warned.

First up, if you don’t have a copy of the latest FAQ you can get it here: https://www.fantasyflightgames.com/en/products/x-wing/

It’s in the FAQ section at the bottom of the page under the ‘Support’ heading.

X-Wing Ships: The JumpMaster 5000

Greetings Programs.

Once again it is the first working day of the weekly slog and I have been thinking about which of the many X-Wing ships I would like to cover next.

I figured that I would jump over the Scum faction (you remember at the start when I said I play more Empire & Scum than Rebels, that’s going to start showing in these ship write

ups) and talk about what is, for my money, one of the more interesting ships in the Scumroster.  The JumpMaster 5000, favoured ship of the fearsome bounty hunter Dengar.
One interesting thing with the Scum faction, they have the most large based ships of any faction.  The Empire has 3, the Rebels have 3, the Scum have 5.  So as we talk more about the Scum expect to see more about various large based ships.

X-Wing Ships: The VT-49 Decimator

Greetings Programs.

I am enjoying talking about various X-Wing ships, I hope you are enjoying reading about them.  I am going to continue doing so.  In this case I am going to go back to talking about Imperial Ships for a little while, this time we’re going to look at the VT-49 Decimator, this is the first large base ship I’m going to cover (it won’t be the last) and it’s quite the beast.

The introduction of large base ships happened way back in the early days of X-Wing with the Millennium Falcon & Slave-1, the Decimator didn’t come along until later but it made big impact and it still sees lots of play today.  The reason for this is the sheer power and resilience of the ship.  The Decimator is tough and dangerous with lots of options for upgrades and customisations.

X-Wing Ships: The Scum Y-Wing

Greetings programs.  Welome to part 3 of my look at the basic ships of the X-Wing Minis game.  Having previously looked at both the Imperial TIE Fighter and the Rebel X-Wing it is now time to take a look at the third faction in the game, Scum & Villany.  This faction is actually quite different to the others, for starters it wasn’t in the games original release and it has no ships in the basic set, so if you want to play Scum the initial investment is actually a little higher than the other factions as you have to buy the base set and then a few Scum expansions.

What makes the Scum stand appart from the other two factions is their combination of weird ships and risk based upgrades.  The Scum faction has more large base ships than either of the other factions and it doesn’t really have a signature small base fighter, one of the joys of the Scum faction is that they can field some really weird combinations.

There is some good news though, there is this great expansion called Most Wanted which includes 2x Z95 Headhunters, 1x Y-Wing and a number of ship cards to allow you to use existing ships with this faction.  All told, this is one of the best value boxes I’ve seen in the game.

Without an obvious faction default ship the question is, what do we talk about?

X-Wing Ships: The T-65 X-Wing

Having written a post about the first classic small ship of the X-Wing Minis game (see the previous post on the subject of the TIE Fighter), I feel it is now time to talk about the Rebel basic small ship, the T-65 X-Wing.  This is the original Rebel era X-Wing Fighter, not the shiny new T-70 X-Wing from The Force Awakens, I will cover that later.

In the previous post I mentioned the costs, actions, upgrades and pilot abilities that you find on these cards.  I’m not going to list them all again here, so if you are not familiar with the cards and actions then I would recommend you at least scan the TIE Fighter article.

Anyway, on to the T-65 X-Wing.
